A quick guide to importing, editing, and viewing your floor plans in Planer3D.

1. Import a floorplan

From the editor's bottom toolbar, click the folder icon to open Import Floorplan. Upload a photo or sketch of a floor plan — the backend generates a skeleton preview, extracts wall shapes, detects doors/windows, then merges everything into an editable plan.

The original photo is kept as a faint trace-reference layer underneath the traced walls in the 2D view, so you can compare the extraction against the source image.

2. 2D plan view

Use the toolbar (bottom of the editor) to switch tools:

  • Select (S) — click a wall or furniture item to select it and edit its properties in the right-hand panel.
  • Draw Wall (W) — click to place a wall's start point, click again to place the end point (repeats for a chain of walls). Placement is free — walls aren't forced to snap onto existing corners.

Selecting a wall shows drag handles at each endpoint — drag either end to reshape it. Double-click a wall to delete it, or press Delete / Backspace with a wall or furniture item selected. Ctrl/Cmd+A selects everything.

3. 3D view

Switch to the 3D tab to orbit, pan, and zoom around the model. Click a wall to select it (shows pink endpoint handles you can drag to reshape it), double-click a door/window or furniture piece to select and edit it.

With something selected, press Delete / Backspace to remove it, or use the trash icon in the properties panel. Press R to rotate a selected furniture piece 90°.

4. Doors, windows & furniture

Use the door/window buttons in the toolbar (3D view only), then click a wall to place one. Drag an opening along its wall to reposition it; windows can also be dragged vertically to change elevation.

Add furniture from the left-hand catalog panel — drag or click to place, then use the properties panel to adjust position, rotation, size, and color.

5. Properties panel

Selecting an item on the canvas opens its properties on the right:

  • Wall — thickness, height, delete.
  • Door / Window — width, height, rotation, and (windows only) elevation.
  • Furniture — position, rotation, width/depth/height, color.
6. Global wall controls

The toolbar's Wall Height and Wall Width controls set every wall in the plan at once — handy after import, when all walls typically start at the same default size.

7. Textures

Wall and floor materials can be swapped from the left panel's texture picker — applies to every wall/floor surface in the current plan.

Still stuck? These docs cover the core workflow — everything else follows the same select → edit-in-panel pattern.
